Description
GripRepair 10FR is a polymer modified fibre reinforced concrete repair mortar designed for structural concrete repairs, such as honeycombed, spalled and damaged concrete. Ideal for honeycombing and patch repairs.
Characteristics/Advantages:
• Easy to use pre-blended product (just add clean water) with superb placing and finishing characteristics.
• Very low permeability protects steel and resists carbonation and chloride attack.
• Very good placement and finishing characteristics.
• Shrinkage compensated – Minimizes tendency of repairs to crack and allow ingress of water and chlorides, especially in harsh environments.
Typical Uses:
Repair of concrete structures and elements such as industrial buildings, water-retaining structures, sewage and effluent concrete systems, tunnels, pipes, columns, stadiums etc.
Surface Preparation:
• Concrete surface or substrate must be structurally sound and fully cured, remove all loose concrete.
• Surfaces must be free of oil, greases, dust, rust, paint laitance and any other contaminants.
• Repair areas must have an aggregate exposed surface.
• Use non-impact cleaning methods to expose the area and clean all reinforcing.
Priming/Structural Bonding:
• No primer is required.
• Saturation of the repair area with water prior to application is highly recommended.
• Surface water should be removed prior to application.
• For poor concrete surfaces it is recommended to prepare the area with a GripKey for Plaster bonding agent to ensure a good interfacial bond and to seal the area to prevent further ingress of chlorides or carbonation.
• GripKey for Plaster is specifically designed to match the polymer content of GripRepair 10FR and enhance its performance.
• It is not recommended to use conventional SBR or Styrene Acrylic bonding agents with this product unless otherwise specified by Stanton Construction Chemicals.
For structural bonds use GripEpoxy 107N – Wet to Dry Epoxy Adhesive (refer to TDS).
Mixing:
• A mechanical mixer is recommended. Add 2/3 of the water per 20kg bag into the mixing vessel then slowly add the GripRepair 10FR whilst mixing. When the mix stiffens, add the remaining 1/3 of the water and continue mixing until the desired consistency is achieved and free from lumps. Allow material 1 – 2 minutes to stand and remix without adding any water.
• Hand or manual mixing is not suggested but should no other option be available add no more than 10kg powder to no more than 1.4 litres of water and mix vigorously with a spatula or similar. Increases in water content will result in lower strengths.
• It is recommended to use rubber or “builders” gloves due to the high alkalinity of the product.
Placing/Application:
• GripRepair 10FR should be applied by trowel.
• GripRepair 10FR should be built up in layers of up to 30mm. If next layer is applied after final set of the product, it is suggested that GripKey for Plaster be used to bond the layers.
• Layers up to 50mm can be placed with lower water content to give a stiffer and stronger mix if required.
• Do not exceed 25mm per layer for overhead applications. For thicker applications consult with Stanton Construction Chemicals on how to best achieve this.
• Do not featheredge the product.
Curing:
Repair areas should be covered as soon as possible after placement with damp hessian or alternatively apply GripCure Acrylic. Curing is an essential part of achieving a crack free repair.
