Description
GripCure Acrylic is a water-based membrane forming slightly viscous acrylic emulsion solution which dries to a colourless stain-free surface finish when applied to the concrete
Specification Type:
• AASHTO M148 (Hardening), National Water Council approved 821052 G 8.
• Approved for use on structures to receive potable water.
Characteristics/Advantages:
• Economical, single application and easy to use. Spray or roller applicable
• Reduces incidence of shrinkage cracks • Promotes better strength gain characteristics
• Useful as a dust-proofer & surface hardener particularly on floor areas
• No film breakdown period involved
• Does not interfere with subsequent concrete surface treatments
• Non Yellowing
• Does not make surface slippery Typical
Applications:
• GripCure Acrylic is an economical method of assisting efficient concrete curing. The presence and retention of water in concrete is essential to ensure adequate strength development and to minimize initial plastic shrinkage crack development.
• Seals in the moisture to assist with hydration of the cement which results in higher strengths, increased durability and minimal surface dusting
• Perfect for applications where additional toppings are going to be applied to the surface
Typical properties:
• Appearance: Clear, slightly viscous liquid
• Application Rate: 5m2 per litre is recommended
• Specific Gravity: 1.0 at 20°C
• Flashpoint: None Finished Film:
• Normal application: clear. On over-application: glossy effect
• Shelf Life: Up to 2 years when stored in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
• Freezing Point: 0°C
• Chloride Content: None
• Toxicity: None
Pigmentation:
GripCure Acrylic is also available with a fugitive dye to indicate areas where the curing compound has been applied. It then fades after 2-3 days exposure.
Limitations:
• On over- application, a slightly glassy concrete surface finish can result
• It should be noted that whilst GripCure Acrylic is effective in improving moisture retention, the curing Efficiency Index is lower than that of conventional resin film-forming membranes (see data sheet on our GripCure Resin Curing Compound range). Therefore, where high curing Efficiency Index Rates are required, the GripCure Resin film-forming membrane compounds should be considered. Bear in mind that should subsequent surface coatings be required, the time lapse involved with resin based membranes is substantially longer.
Health and Safety – Product Safety & Handling Overview
Because GripCure Acrylic is a designed for eco-friendly and safe indoor/outdoor concrete curing, general handling safety guidelines for similar water-based acrylic compounds apply:
• Toxicity: Non-toxic, eco-friendly, and safe for indoor and exterior use.
• Skin & Eye Contact: Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
• Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention if accidentally swallowed.
• Application Precautions: Use in well-ventilated areas and wear standard protective gloves and eye protection during spray or roller application.
